Home Based Primary Care and Outreach The mission of the Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) is to bring medical services and care to Veterans living in rural areas throughout central Virginia. Access to health services in rural and underserved areas create barriers to proper health. "We're looking for elderly Veterans finding it difficult to make the drive to Richmond to receive their primary care," said Worth Kenyon, Program Director for the HBPC team. HBPC uses a 40 foot mobile clinic which has two exam rooms for privacy and a staff of trained medical professionals. The team also provides outreach by assisting Veterans with the application for enrollment for VA care, and health education. Veterans should bring some form of identification, a copy of their DD-214 if possible and any current medications for registration and consulting. Less than 15,000 Veterans living in rural central Virginia are currently enrolled for VA benefits and services. The HBPC program aims to improve access by taking services to the rural communities.
