New Additions at the Fisher House

This summer the McGuire VA Medical Center Fisher House is celebrating four years of service to the families of our Nation’s Heroes. Families of Veterans and active duty service members may be eligible to stay in one of the 21 bedroom suites in the home during their loved one’s hospitalization.

The home also allows loved ones to be close by their Veteran or active duty service member which enhances the healing environment.

Supporting the families that stay in the Fisher House is a priority for the staff of the home and features are frequently introduced to enhance the guests stay in the home.  One of the ongoing community projects that have had area business involvement and local media support is an 1800 square foot wellness patio attached to the Fisher House. 

The patio features a pond less water feature, a pergola and an enclosed Gazebo.  There are also plans to build an outside kitchen.   The purpose of the patio is to provide families a tranquil place to relax and enjoy after a day of serving as a caregiver.
