A Successful Transition
Sgt Ricardo Baily
Sgt. Ricardo Bailey was the first active duty service member to participate in the new Integrated Disability Evaluation System, an agreement between the Department of Defense and the VA.

Sgt. Ricardo Bailey was busy today as he visited several clinics at the Richmond VA Medical Center.  He soon realized he was the first active duty service member to participate in the new Integrated Disability Evaluation System, an agreement between the Department of Defense and the VA.

The goal is that the Service Member's experience when participating in the VA/DoD Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) Program will be that he/she is working with one federal health care agency.

The agreement between VA and the DoD allows the service member to have a seamless delivery of compensation and pension examination without involvement in the VA and DoD claims process.

Sgt. Bailey reported his visits were great and that this new process would help expedite the transition time between the military and becoming a Veteran.
