On July 11th, The Richmond Flying Squirrels along with the Goddard School hosted a Camp Day at the Diamond ballpark. Over 2,000 campers from around central Virginia participated in a day filled with family fun and excitement.
Youth Volunteers play an important role and provide many important functions throughout the Medical Center and help make our patients stay more comfortable. To reward the team for their hard work and dedication, it was a day at the ballpark.
“A first time experience for most of our Youth Volunteers says Janell Giles, Voluntary Program Specialist at Richmond VAMC.” In spite of heat temperatures exceeding 95 degree in the shade, it was a chance for younger people to experience a great American pastime.
Our Volunteers show up to work each day and are closely matched with one of our many assignments in the medical center. Future Volunteer’s considering opportunities at the Richmond VA Medical Center should call 804-675-5135 or visit our website, www.richmond.va.gov/giving/
Summer Youth Volunteers, Thank you for supporting our Nation’s Heroes.
