VA Secretary Shinseki Visits the Richmond Polytrauma Center

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki toured the McGuire Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, a state-of-the-art VA facility for Veterans with the most severe, complex injuries. Secretary Shinseki also toured projects the facility has undertaken to become more energy efficient.

McGuire’s Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center at Richmond is one of five facilities in the country designed to provide intensive rehabilitative care to Veterans and Servicemembers who experienced severe injuries (including brain injuries) to more than one organ system. During Secretary Shinseki’s visit he underscored themes from the State of the Union address, in which President Obama outlined his strong commitment to Veterans.

Secretary Shinseki also highlighted projects that make the Richmond facility more efficient, examples of VA’s national effort to save costs through energy efficiency.
