Richmond VA Medical Center’s physical therapy team includes health care professionals who are dedicated to reducing and alleviating pain. In their treatment, they also prevent the onset and progression of impairments/functional limitations/disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injuries, diseases, or other causes. They work to restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and optimal quality of life as related to movement and health for all ages, while maximizing safety. Physical Therapists are licensed and regulated in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Qualification for licensure includes passing the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) of The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). Another important qualification for licensure is graduation from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy education program or a program that is deemed substantially equivalent. The PT department of the Richmond VA Medical Center includes Licensed Physical Therapists, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistants and Physical Therapy Technicians, working in all areas of the medical center, including outpatients referred from primary care clinics, Fort Lee and the Department of Defense. Thank you to our dedicated team of professionals serving our Nation’s Heroes.
