Sons and Daughters Day at Work

On July 17, McGuire VA Medical Center will host the annual “Bring Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day.” It’s a great opportunity for youth and teens attending to gain experience and identify career opportunities available at McGuire VAMC.

Students will learn about internships, scholarships, and volunteering opportunities which are available through various programs. This event, in previous years, was held in April but after listening to parents’ feedback, the date was pushed back to July to facilitate transportation and schedule considerations.

Michelle Guzman and Vanessa Falden are organizers of the one day event and this year, there will be students ranging from ages 12 to 18 years old and anticipate over 96 students to join us this year.

“We are so thankful to our young adult Volunteers,” said Vanessa Falden, EEO Specialist and Program Coordinator. To experience a day like this will be a memory of a life time for most of the families participating this year.

The program continues to focus on the competing challenges adults face integrating work and family. We hope this opportunity allow parents, guardians, and mentors to share their work lives and introduce these issues to their daughters and sons.
