About the Program
The McGuire Richmond VAMC is the only medical center in the VA to do heart transplants in-house and the first VA to utilize the totally mechanical heart as a bridge to transplant. Each surgical specialty offers veterans a comprehensive surgical program to treat their medical conditions. Our surgeons offer the latest minimally invasive surgical options and cutting edge technology to reduce or minimize a veteran’s hospital course. Many of the surgeons are clinical investigators who do research in their respective fields.
