Richmond Epilepsy Center of Excellence (ECoE)
The mission of the ECoE is to improve the quality of care of Veterans with epilepsy through an integrated regional and national network of Epilepsy Centers of Excellence (ECoE).
In 2008 the VA established 16 specialty sites that are linked to form 4 regional centers which network to provide coordinated services for veterans with seizure disorders and epilepsy. In 2008 the Epilepsy Centers of Excellence (ECoE) were charged with improving the health and well-being of Veterans with epilepsy and other seizure disorders by integrating clinical care, outreach, research and education.
The Northeast centers are located in Richmond, Baltimore and West Haven. The epilepsy centers are also linked with the Polytrauma Centers to increase our ability to mutually follow Veterans with moderate and severe traumatic brain injury who are at the greatest risk for post-traumatic epilepsy.
