In order to maintain certain health and dietary control measures, McGuire’s VA Voluntary Service asks that prior to delivering/donating any homemade food items to Veterans, we ask that you contact a member of our Voluntary Service team at 804-675-5135.

Richmond VA Medical Center depends on the goodwill of our benefactors and volunteers who wish to give something back to America's Heroes. Volunteers provide many important functions throughout the medical center and help ensure our patients stay is an enjoyable experience.                           

 How to Become a Volunteer at Richmond VAMC

Step 1.  Complete fingerprint appointment The fingerprint office is located in room 2K-129, Human Resources. Please report to the Voluntary Service Office located in room 1M-107 on the date of your fingerprint appointment to register.

Step 2. Once the fingerprints come back to us, our office will contact you to proceed with the online orientation. For those who do not have a printer or computer access, they may pick up a copy of the orientation materials from the Voluntary Service Office, room 1M-107.

Step 3.  Upon completion of the required forms, please contact the Voluntary Service Office at (804) 675-5107 or (804) 675-5135 to schedule an interview and receive your volunteer assignment in the medical center. All of the required forms can be read/downloaded under the "resources" tab on the right side of the page.

Step 4. Bring the Volunteer Packet to our office when you come in for your interview.

Step 5. Bring a copy of your vehicle registration and a government issued I.D. card on Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. to receive your parking decal.

Step 6. If you’ve received a T.B. test within the past year, you may submit your test results or be prepared to receive a T.B. test on the day of your interview.  The TB Test are given Monday –Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. Tests are read Monday – Friday at the listed time.

Step 7. If you’re unable to keep your scheduled interview date or time, please contact the Voluntary Service Office at (804) 675-5107 or (804) 675-5135.
