Veterans Integrative Pain (VIP) Center

Empower veterans with chronic pain by teaching them integrative self-management strategies to restore function and improve quality of life.

To be the VA’s leader in improving chronic pain management and quality of life through integrative treatment approaches
Overview:
The VIP Center’s 12-month outpatient program incorporates various integrative and non-medication based approaches to improve Veterans’ chronic pain self-management abilities and overall quality of life. The services can be categorized into three main areas:
Veteran-Driven Approaches
- Biofeedback
- Movement Therapies (e.g., Tai Chi; Sarete Aikido, etc.)
- Education and Psychotherapy Groups (e.g., Anti-Inflammatory Diet; Mindfulness Meditation; Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Insomnia; CBT for Chronic Pain; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Pain, etc.)
- Music Therapy
Provider-Driven Approaches
- NADA Ear Acupuncture
- Medical Acupuncture
- Chiropractic Care
- Musculoskeletal Exam
Supportive Services
- Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Support Group
- Creative Writing Group
All VIP Center participants must engage in at least one Veteran-driven approach in addition to those that are provider-driven. Services are not offered a la carte.
Program Entry:
All Veterans with chronic pain interested in participating in the VIP Center must attend a one-time, walk-in orientation held at the VIP Center.
